Who we are

Besa is an introduction service for Albanians in Albania and abroad who want to marry. The service is provided by Besa, based in Tirana, Albania ("Besa", "we"). These terms govern your use of the besa.al website and the member app. By creating a profile you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If the Albanian and English versions differ, the Albanian version prevails.

Who can join

You may create a profile only if you:

• are 18 or older;
• are not currently married;
• are looking for a relationship that leads to marriage;
• hold a single account, linked to a phone number you use yourself.

Besa introduces men to women. The gender and date of birth you give when you sign up cannot be changed later, so they must be correct. If you made a mistake, write to us and we will correct it after checking.

Your profile and the pledge

You are responsible for making sure everything in your profile is true and about you: your name, age, marital status, job, photos and video. Before paying, you confirm with the pledge "Jap besën" ("I give my word") that everything in your profile is true, that you are not married and that you are here for marriage. We store this statement with its date and time.

Photos must show your face clearly, have been taken in the last two years and must not include children or other people's faces. Profile texts must not contain phone numbers, links, email addresses or social media handles.

Profile review

Our team reviews every profile by hand, usually within 48 hours of payment. We may ask you to change something, such as a photo. If, after repeated requests, a profile still does not meet the rules, or if we have reason to believe the details are not true, the profile is not approved and we refund you as described under "Refunds".

New photos, a new video and changes to your "In your own words" text are reviewed again. Until they are approved, proposals see the previous version.

How proposals work

• Every Monday morning (Tirana time) you receive up to three proposals. We only propose pairs that match at least 70%, calculated from both sides.
• You have 7 days to respond to each proposal.
• If you both say yes, each of you receives the contact details the other chose to share. A "no" is never revealed to the other person.
• We do not promise a set number of proposals. Some weeks may have none when nobody meets your must-haves.
• You can pause new proposals at any time from your profile.

Besa has no chat. After a mutual yes, you talk outside Besa, on the channels you chose, and we cannot see those conversations.

Membership and payment

Membership is paid once a year and is valid until 31 December of that year. If you pay on or after 1 October, the membership also covers the following year. The cutoff date may change and is always shown before you pay.

The price differs for men and women and is shown in the app before you pay. A new price applies only to future payments. You pay by card (Visa or Mastercard), processed by Stripe, or by bank transfer. We never store your card details. For bank transfers, the review starts once we confirm the money has arrived.

Membership does not renew automatically. From 1 November we remind you to renew. If you do not renew, your profile is hidden from proposals from 1 January and, after the period set in our settings (31 days by default), archived. Returning after archiving requires a new review.

Refunds

• Profile not approved: we refund the full amount within 5 working days, using the same payment method.
• Suspension for breaking the rules: the payment is not refunded.
• You close your account (for example "I found my person" or deleting the account): the remaining membership is not refunded.

These rules do not limit any rights consumer protection law may give you.

Conduct we expect

On Besa, and in any contact that comes from it, you must not:

• ask for or accept money, gifts, bank details or financial help;
• threaten, insult or harass anyone;
• use someone else's photos or identity;
• use Besa while married, or for purposes unrelated to marriage;
• share a member's contact details, photos or video with others without their consent;
• use Besa for advertising, selling or collecting data.

Reports, blocking and suspension

You can report or block any profile you are proposed to or connected with. Reports are confidential: the reported person never learns who reported them. We review every report within 24 hours, and reports of money requests or threats come first. While we review, the reported profile receives no new proposals.

After reviewing, we may suspend the profile, give a final warning, remove a photo or close the case without action. In a dispute about marital status, we may ask for a civil-status certificate (from e-Albania or the equivalent document where you live) within 7 days. Until then, the profile stays paused from proposals.

If you are in immediate danger, call the police on 112.

Closing your account

You can close your account at any time from your profile:

• Hide the profile and stop proposals: your data is kept for 30 days. If you sign in again with the same number within that time, your account is restored.
• Delete permanently: your profile, photos and video are erased. We keep some data for as long as the law requires, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

Our responsibility

We check every profile carefully, but we cannot guarantee that everything a member says is true, or that an introduction will lead to marriage. Take care when you meet someone for the first time: meet in a public place, tell a friend or family member and never send money.

Our liability for damage related to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the current year's membership, except where the law does not allow this limit.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we publish a new version with the date it takes effect and let you know in the app or by email before it applies. The version each member accepted is stored with the date of acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Albania. Any dispute that cannot be settled by agreement is heard by the competent court in Tirana, without affecting the rights the law of your country of residence gives you as a consumer.
